Biography
James Cameron was born in Ontario, Canada on Aug. 16,1954, to Phillip and Shirley Cameron. His family, including five siblings, moved to California when Cameron was a teenager. He enrolled in California State University in Fullerton but eventually dropped out.
Cameron learned as much as he could about the film industry by checking out books from the University of Southern California library and also began writing screenplays and short stories. His first professional job in the film industry was as a miniature model maker at Roger Corman Studios. At other studios, he worked as an art director, special effects director, production director, director, writer and producer. His first directing position was for an Italian film shot in Jamaica, Piranha 2: The Spawning. He has since written Terminator, Aliens, Terminator 2 and Titanic. His directing credits include The Abyss, True Lies, and Titanic.
