Undoubtedly, Karl Heinrich Marx is one of the most influential philosophers of the twentieth century, if not all of history. Witness to this claim is the creation of a completely new political and economic ideology that changed how people viewed the basics of human labor and production. Moreover, by the 1970s, over two-thirds of the world's surface was governed by nations who functioned under the ideologies of socialism and communism.

Karl Marx was born into a comfortable middle class family that came from a long line of rabbis; however, the Marx family later converted to Protestantism because Marx's father wanted to keep his job as a well-respected lawyer. At around the age of 17, Marx left for college, first in Bonn and then finishing in Berlin, where he studied philosophy, history, and law.
