Kenneth Jeffrey Feld was born in 1948 in Washington, DC. His father, Irvin Feld, bought the Ringling Brothers circus in 1967 for $8 million. He sold it to Mattel Inc. in 1971 for $50 million and in 1982, Feld and his father bought it back for about $23 million. Irvin has been called the "Greatest Showman on Earth" for his contributions to circus culture. He died in 1984 and Feld inherited the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
Feld received his education from Boston University and completed a degree in Business Administration in 1970. Soon after he was working with his dad. Even after the sale to Mattel, Feld and his father stayed on and Feld was promoted to co-producer in 1973. In 1984, Feld inherited the positions of president and CEO, positions he retains today. Under his direction the circus has evolved greatly. With the Walt Disney Company, Feld has helped put on shows such as Disney's World on Ice and The Wizard of Oz on Ice. Feld also produces Siegfried & Roy, the Las Vegas magicians. In 1995 he founded the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Center for Elephant Conservation.
Feld never likes to wear the same tie twice in a year. In fact, he claims to own a collection of over 500. Feld ranks 306 on the Forbes 400 for 1998 and has been a member since 1993. Keep your eyes open for a stage production of Goosebumps, the children's books and Grease on Ice.
