what is fame?

MF Doom (real name Daniel Dumile) is an underground rapper originally from New York. Before becoming MF Doom he was known as Zev Love X as part of the early nineties hip hop group KMD (along with his brother Subroc). Subroc was killed in a car accident in 1993, after which Dumile vanished from hip hop. In 1999 he released an album Operation: Doomsday under the name MF Doom and has since gained massive popularity in underground rap.

MF Doom has gone by other names on his albums including Viktor Vaughn and King Gheedorah. He is part of Madvillian (with producer Madlib), part of Danger Doom (with Danger Mouse) and has production credits on mainstream albums such as Ghostface Killah's Fishscale album.

The meaning of MF changes in his songs and in his titles, though it is usually "Metal Face" or "Metal Fingers" (as per MF Doom's instrumental releases under Metal Fingers).
