Biography
Pilar Diaz, who plays the ukulele, is
the former lead singer of Los Abandoned. Her stage
name was Lady P. In 2004, "Van Nuys (es Very Nice)"
became a surprise hit for her band in Mexico City.
Less than a year later, Los Abandoned found itself
playing in front of a crowd of 60,000 at the Vive
Latino festival in Mexico. Occasionally, the
three-minute blast of punky energy was the wake up
call to listeners of KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic.
