Biography
Ralph Nader was born on February 27, 1934, in Winsted, Connecticut. Nader is most known as a political and consumer activist and often accused of stealing democratic votes in elections.
Nader is also an attorney, author, lecturer in the areas of consumer rights, humanitarianism, environmentalism, and government. He reaffirmed his candidacy for President on Meet the Press for the 2008 American Presidential Election.
He helped found many governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Public Citizen, and several Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs), including NYPIRG. Nader has been a staunch critic of corporations, which he believes wield too much power and are undermining the fundamental American values of democracy and human rights. He appeared on the cover of Time magazine in 1969 for his role as a consumer advocate.
