Biography
While somewhat of a comedy cult figure in the United States, Rowan Atkinson’s physical approach to comedy has earned him worldwide acclaim. The beakish, pop-eyed Atkinson has only recently tapped into American popularity with his recent feature hit, Bean, which earned some $100 million world-wide, before finally being released in the U.S., where it became an instant goof-ball hit.
While runs of his British television series Blackadder and Mr.Bean have been shown on public television for years, Atkinson didn’t hit mainstream fame in the United States until his unforgettable performances in such films as Three Weddings and a Funeral, Disney’s The Lion King and the 1997 feature comedy Bean.
