Peyton Manning was born in New Orleans in 1976, and grew up there as his father had played for the NFL's Saints and lived in New Orleans even after retiring. Manning, who as a child would lie in bed and watch tapes of his father's greatest games, was an exceptional quarterback at Isidore High School in New Orleans before moving on to the University of Tennessee, where he became a true freshman starting quarterback. At Tennessee, Manning excelled, becoming a three-time Academic All America honoree, leading his team to a national championship, and maintaining a 3.61 GPA. He graduated Cum Laude in 1998 with a degree in Speech Communications and quickly became the first player picked in the 1998 NFL college draft, going to the Indianapolis Colts.<br /> Peyton Manning was born in New Orleans in 1976, and grew up there as his father had played for the NFL's Saints and lived in New Orleans even after retiring.
